Packaging is part of product development
Packaging affects shelf presentation, fulfillment, labeling and packing labor. It can also have a separate print MOQ and lead time. Buyers should choose the format while the sock sample is being developed rather than waiting until production is ready.
Start from the sales channel: a boutique hanger, ecommerce multipack and corporate gift box solve different problems.
Common formats
The right format balances protection, information and cost. Ask how the sock will be folded, paired and attached so artwork is built around the real dimensions.
- Printed belly band
- Hangtag or hanger card
- Paper sleeve
- Retail box or gift set
- Polybag or channel-specific fulfillment pack
Content and compliance
Packaging may need fiber content, care, size, country of origin, responsible business details, barcode and recycling information. Requirements depend on the destination market and channel. The brand owner should approve legal content before print production.
Avoid unsupported environmental claims. If packaging or product certifications are part of the proposition, confirm scope, validity and chain-of-custody details.
Approve a packed sample
A digital artwork approval cannot show fold alignment, barcode readability or how firmly the pack holds the product. Request a physical or production-equivalent packed sample when presentation is important.
Store final dielines, print files, color references and barcode data with the product specification for repeat orders.
Specifications, claims, testing, labeling and compliance should be confirmed for the exact product and destination market. This guide is general sourcing information, not legal or medical advice.
